North of Downtown San Antonio, Pearl is a micro-district centred on the former brewery of the same name, a splendid Second Empire-style building built in 1894 and converted into a hotel. Since 2002, the neighbourhood has been undergoing regeneration. Charming residences, trendy restaurants, pedestrian areas and hip boutiques have sprung up, but Pearl has lost none of its industrial identity. On weekends, local artisans and producers meet at the Farmers Market.
