This former Japanese concession bears witness to the foreign occupation of Tianjin in the late 19C. It is best explored on foot: Shandong Lu; Anshan dao; Heping Lu, a shopping street dotted with Art deco facades and, at N°290, the town's first department store (1928), Quanyechang; and Binjiang dao, now a shopping high street.
